Snowflakes are AMAZING

I can't believe how intricate and detailed a snowflake is. I am not sure why I got a bug up my butt to photograph snowflakes, but I did. And now I feel addicted. I want it to be colder out and snow some more, so I can go take more! This mornings conditions were perfect at 10 degrees and still air. After the first set of pictures that I took (those which were best shown here) I went out again to see if I could get even better shots. Well it had warmed up to 20 degrees and the sun started to peak. And with that came a bit of melting of the crystalline formations.

  2. Hooooly Cow! those photos are neat. I've lived in snow country all my life (except four or five) and not much appreciated the snow lace all around me. You have amazing photographic skills and a great eye.

  3. The camera I used might have a little something to do with how well these came out because it's an 18 megapixel camera. So my cropping ability is aweseome! The lens is just the standard lens that comes with most cameras; it's 18-35mm, and I just focused as close up as it would allow. The camera body is new; Clayton got it for me for Christmas it's the Canon EOS 7D :-) I'm curious how much better these snowflakes would turn out with a real macro lens now.
